While careers like mailman, barber, fitness instructor and facility supervisor are not inherently exciting, four Preston Hollow residents have proven otherwise.

Four years ago, the Advocate interviewed four neighbors whose histories and personalities have left their mark on the community.

Take Bob Colombe, for instance, who has been a barber for more than 50 years. While picking up a pair of scissors is second nature, Colombe was humble about his high-profile Dallas clients like Ross Perot.

Or just read about Bobby Jones, who travels to Africa for missionary work when he isn’t delivering the mail throughout Preston Hollow. “If I meet you, I want to change your life,” he said. “Attitude is everything. I can read people very well. I can tell if they’re going through something. It’s pretty amazing that I get paid to possibly affect someone’s life.”
