Halloween festivities are abound in Preston Hollow, and Melshire Estates is no exception. The Melshire Estates Homeowners Association’s Halloween Block Party is this Sunday at Ridgetown Circle. Costumes are encouraged, and a plethora of Halloween-themed activities will be offered, including pumpkin bowling and an obstacle course. The celebration kicks off at 3:30 p.m., and it costs $10 t0 attend if you don’t belong to the HOA.

Bring the kids to Preston Hollow Elementary for a Trunk or Treat on Friday at 6 p.m. Community members also are invited to decorate the cars and pass out candy. Learn more information here.

Preston Hollow United Methodist Church also is in the holiday spirit and has organized a Fall Festival on Friday. The event from 6-8 p.m. includes train rides, inflatable slides, trunk-or-treating, carnival game and other activities.  Northaven United Methodist Church‘s Trunk or Treat will be on Sunday from 5-7 p.m.  A cupcake walk, music, bounce house and food truck all are featured.

If you’ve always wanted to participate in a flash mob, here’s your chance. Join the Dance Council of North Texas in a flash mob of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at NorthPark Center on Saturday. Thriller in the Park kicks off at 1 p.m. at the NorthCourt. You can get all the details here, and learn the choreography in the video featured below.

 

 

If you’re in the mood to dance, but flash mobs just aren’t your style, head to SMU’s Meadows Jazz Orchestra second annual swing concert on Saturday.  At “It Don’t Mean a Thing if It Aint Got That Swing,” practice your skills during an introductory lesson at 6:30 p.m. before dancing to music of the 1930s and ’40s at 7:30 p.m. More information is available here.

Frontiers of Flight is hosting a “Star Wars”-themed extravaganza at the museum this Saturday. The Star Wars Halloween events includes a Red Carpet Costume Contest, appearances from sci-fi figures and more.

 
If you need a break from the costumes, candy and chaos of the holiday, the AIA Dallas Tour of Homes is on Saturday and Sunday. The tour features nine modern homes across the city, including one in Preston Hollow. Learn more about the tour here.
