While many of us still are recovering from yesterday’s turkey-induced coma, the season only has begun.
NorthPark Center’s holiday events are underway, neighborhood homes are covered in Christmas lights and several local nonprofits are gearing up for food drives and gift donations.
If you feel generous but aren’t sure where the greatest need is, the Advocate compiled a list of nonprofits that serve our community and could benefit from your time or money.
Published in 2014, the list includes:
- Vickery Meadow Learning Center, which benefits local refugees learning English.
- Carson Leslie Foundation, an organization that serves pediatric cancer patients in Dallas.
- Project Linus, which provides comfort to children who are ill or traumatized.
- Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, a nonprofit that allocates funds to 48 local, regional and national organizations.
- Texas Archery Academy & Texas Archery Club, which offers safe and affordable access to archery.
- North Dallas Shared Ministries, a multi-faith operation that assists seniors on fixed incomes and the working poor.
- Foster Kids Charity, an organization that serves children in foster care.
- Friends Of The Northaven Trail, established to maintain and improve the Northaven Trail
