Preston Hollow has some of the safest neighborhoods in Dallas, but that hasn’t stopped neighbors from seeking extra security.

Offered by the Dallas Police Department, Enhanced Neighborhood Patrol is a program in which an off-duty officer patrols the neighborhood. While ENP provides additional security, it is pricey, costing neighbors as much as $400 per year.

In December, Windsor Park will launch its ENP program, joining Northaven Park Neighborhood Association, Royal Hills and Park Forest.

Windsor Park resident Igor Jekauc says many of his neighbors advocated for the program because of the additional patrol and faster response times in case of an emergency.

Most crimes in the neighborhood are vehicle-related, he says, but there have been a few burglaries.

“The North Central Division stretches from Northwest Highway to Plano — they’re stretched pretty thin,” he says.

Out of 350 households in the neighborhood, an estimated 110 already have signed up for ENP.  The minimum dues are $400 per household, but Jekauc says some neighbors volunteered to pay as much as $2,000.

“The neighbors really wanted this program, so it’s been a lot easier than it could’ve been otherwise,” he says.
