Michael David Savadogo may have passed out in the middle of Preston Road before he was struck by two vehicles.

Initially, the Dallas Police Department said that the 27-year-old  was killed early Wednesday morning after three cars hit him in the 11900 block of Preston Road. Two of the cars remained at the scene of the collision, police said, but the third fled the area.

After conducting an investigation, police now say that only two cars were involved in the crash, and both remained at the scene.

People living nearby told police that Savadogo began using synthetic marijuana, or K2, which led him to pass out in the neighborhood. Both drivers said they struck an unknown object in the street and stopped their cars before they realized it was a person. Based on the investigation, police now believe Savadogo already was lying in the road.

The crash isn’t visible on nearby business cameras, and the Dallas County Medical Examiner is performing a toxicology test.

This is the 13th traffic fatality across Dallas in 2017.
