Our April issue features Royal China, a Preston Hollow staple that has served Chinese cuisine for 43 years. The restaurant first opened in 1974, and its popularity has done nothing but grow the past four decades.

Royal China isn’t the only local establishment that is older than some of the neighborhood’s residents. Tupinamba  is 71 years old. Dunston’s Steakhouse turns 48 this year, and Lovers Lane Barbershop is the only original business between Douglas Avenue and the Dallas North Tollway. Not to mention Dougherty’s Pharmacy, an 88-year-old mom-and-pop shop that is the largest drug compounding pharmacy in the Southwest.

In 2014, the Advocate took a look at the businesses that have remained constant, despite Preston Hollow’s rapid development. Read “Dang, that place is still there?” here.
