One year after a peaceful protest erupted into chaos and five police officers were killed, Dallas is still coming to terms with the deadliest police shooting since 9/11.
Today, the city honors DART officer Brent Thompson, Sgt. Michael Smith, Sr. Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, officer Patrick Zamarripa and officer Michael Krol.
As their families celebrate their lives and mourn their loss, community members took to social media to reflect on the tragedy and offer words of encouragement.
