The Dallas Police Department’s no-refusal DWI initiative begins Friday.

The no-refusal initiative forces drivers arrested for DWI to give a blood sample, regardless if they refused a breathalyzer or blood test. Officers are required to obtain a search warrant for every driver who isn’t compliant with the testing.

The no-refusal measure takes effect at 6 p.m. Aug 18 and ends 6 a.m. Sept. 5.
