Styling the Preston Hollow life

Emily Melton’s job is to look good. And she makes it appear effortless as director of luxury sales for Preston Hollow’s Double R Brand, which produces preppy and perfectly tailored clothing for women. She has lived in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, bringing a wide range of styles to her clients here in Dallas. While it may not feel like it just yet, the nip of autumn is on its way. Here’s Emily’s tips for having the most chic fall you can fathom.

1) Maxi Skirts “These have become my year-round go-to — dress up or dress down. I loved it with tanks all summer long, and I’m bringing my maxi skirts into the fall by pairing them with lightweight cashmere T-shirts, a classic blazer and ankle booties. I love mine in a bold gingham or plaid print and all the way to the floor.” 2) Brunch bashes “We’ve been doing these all spring and summer at home, and there is no sign of stopping. Invite friends over and set up a make-your-own mimosa bar and bloody Mary bar. As the weather cools, we’ll be adding in board games and fireplaces for sure.” 3) Whiskey’n Mama “As soon as September hits, I like to switch to a darker liquor, even as the weather is still warm. I like to make a whiskey cocktail that’s just as refreshing, but with a little fall depth and memories of college football. I start with whiskey and muddle some blackberries, pour over ice and top with a lemonade Italian soda.” 4) Letter Trendsetter “Just like any gal born in Texas, I love anything monogrammed. From beautiful cashmere kimono sweaters and throws, to custom stationery, to a sparkly clutches, a girl can never have too many monograms.” 5) Heavy Metal “I love big, edgy metal necklaces. I love one that is a conversation starter and looks equally awesome with a T-shirt and cut-offs as it does with a ball gown.”
