If you think about it, the concept of Halloween is a little bizarre.  It traces back to the Celtic festival Samhain, when people warded off ghosts with bonfires and costumes.  Some of Samhain’s traditions were incorporated into All Saints Day during the seventh century. The evening before became All Hallows Eve, which later transformed into Halloween.

Now, we scare little children dressed as their favorite Disney characters and superheroes. We hang grotesque decorations throughout our home and turn our lawns into decrepit graveyards.

It all seems odd at face value, but that doesn’t stop us from donning our favorite witch’s hat and handing Snickers to strangers.

And, in the meanwhile, you can make these eight Halloween treats to ensure your holiday spirit is at an all-time high. Blood and guts are not required.
