Restaurants throughout the neighborhood are gearing up for New Year’s, if you’re scrambling for last-minute plans. Preston Hollow Village’s Beer Blatt & Table will offer a full-service brunch on New Year’s Day, and Blue Sushi Sake Grill will have a special menu and extended happy hour. Princi Italia and Dish also are contenders for those of us planning to stay in Preston Hollow.

Listen to “The Story of Ferdinand,” a tale about a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in Madrid, at Barnes and Noble. The story time is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m.
