Atmos Energy evacuated 46 Disney Streets homes after detecting another gas leak early Thursday morning.

Residents of Sleepy Lane, Pinocchio Drive, Cinderella Lane and Northaven Road vacated their houses between 2-3 a.m.

The company organized an outage to replace the natural gas line system in Northwest Dallas, where a series of leaks, fires and an explosion has left residents uneasy. “Recent extraordinary rains in North Texas as well as geological conditions in the area have caused leaks,” according to Atmos.

The outage will impact roughly 2,800 homes, and it may take as long as three weeks to complete.

“Residents are welcome to stay in their homes, however there will not be natural gas service,” City Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates wrote in an email to District 13 residents. “Atmos, City staff and volunteers will be distributing letters to residents in the impacted area to inform them of the outage and provide information on assistance for lodging and living needs. Atmos officials at the highest levels have given us repeated assurances that they will bear whatever costs necessary to take care of any residents affected by this planned outage. We will hold them to that promise.”
