Students in W.T. White’s dance program returned from the National High School Dance Festival. Held in Pittsburg, the five-day event allows students to attend classes, audition for scholarships and perform in six concerts.

Several teens received offers to dance at universities and summer camps:

  • Senior Keona Times was accepted into Coker College and Sam Houston State University’s dance programs. J
  • Junior Lesly Guevara received an offer to dance at Winthrop University’s summer program.
  • Junior Jalynne Powell was asked to attend summer dance programs at Winthrop University, Coker College, American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
  • Sophomore Ricky Dominguez received offers to attend summer programs at the University of the Arts, Sam Houston State University, American Dance Festival and Adelphi University.
  • Zela Swanson has the chance to perform at the American Dance Festival, which the New York Times has called “one of the nation’s most important institutions.”

This post has been corrected to reflect students in the dance program, not the drill team, attended the festival.
