This weekend: Learn to make retro desserts, get your crawfish on and enjoy a garden party

Make your own desserts. Find out how to make strawberry shortcake, key lime pie or a grasshopper sundae at Sur La Table’s “American Retro Desserts” cooking class Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m. The class, which is $75, is at 6025 Royal Lane, Suite 150. Call 800-243-0852 to make a reservation.

Sample crawfish. Pakpao Thai Food is celebrating the new year with a crawfish boil April 13-15. It’s $15 a person. The restaurant is at 7859 Walnut Hill Lane, #150.

Enjoy a garden party. See and be seen April 18 at NorthPark in the Neiman Marcus Courtyard. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Dec my Room, which specializes in outfitting children’s hospital rooms. The event will feature a farm-to-table lunch as well as a Neiman Marcus fashion show focusing on spring trends with NorthPark Luxury Ambassador Kimberly Schlegel Whitman and Harpers BAZAAR Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor Avril Graham. Take time out for art. The Meadows Museum at SMU features “Memory, Mind, Matter: The Sculpture of Eduardo Chillida,” 10 a.m.-5 p.m. through June 3. Tickets are $12.

You belong among the wildflowers: North Haven Gardens has a painting workshop “Lady Bird’s Spring Wildflowers” Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. It’s $80. You can get tickets here.
