The Dallas Architecture Forum presents 365 Modern Living Cocktail parties, showcasing some of what it calls “some of the most significant modern residences in Dallas.” Two Preston Hollow homes will be featured June 11 and June 19: the Rock Cliff residence and the Surrey Circle residence.

Each party will give you a chance to see the residence and hear from members of the design team. Here are details, according to the Forum.

Highlights of the Rock Cliff residence, June 11, 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Originally designed by renowned Dallas architect Harwood K. Smith, founder of HKS, and built in 1952 as a one-story house on one acre.
  • Renovation architect Josh Nimmo added a 1,500-square-foot bi-level wing.
  • Details to note: vaulted ceilings, skylights, white-oak floors and the original carved-wood front door designed by Smith.
  • The owners’ contemporary art collection includes paintings by Damien Hirst, Maya Hayuk, Joseph Havel, Richard Phillips, Adam Ball and more.
  • Mid-century modern furnishings throughout the home feature Minotti chairs, a gondola sofa from Emily Summers Studio and antiques. Plus: a Japanese-style courtyard.

  • The Forum attributes the success of this home to the collaboration between Bernbaum/Magadini architects, designer Robyn Menter and landscape architect David Hocker.
  • A contemporary design with moveable glass walls.
  • A screened living area with a fireplace, outdoor kitchen and dining area and ceiling heaters so the family can be outdoors most of the year.
  • A pool with a wood deck.
  • Landscaping that features drought tolerant plants — no grass.
  • Interior design with a natural palette.
