Porsche recently celebrated the 70th anniversary of their sports cars at Park Place Porsche. Their event last weekend brought together owners of Porsche 911s for their Sportscar Together Day.

Festivities took place on six continents and, as it turns out, we were pretty lucky to have one in our backyard. In Nigeria, Porsche fans drove 88 kilometers in rain and floods to get to the party and in Thailand, a group of 50 Porsches traveled two and a half days to Bangkok to join 200 other models to celebrate. Even actor and driver Patrick Dempsey flew to Stuttgart, Germany (a town you may recognize for the Porsche logo) for the main event.

The Porsche Club of America-Maverick Region showcased 70 years of Porsches history. They had a 911 for every year between 1967 and 2018 in green, yellow or red.

Attendees were offered Monkey Shoulder and Hudson Whiskey, craft beers and other drinks to celebrate the company’s anniversary.

To mark the anniversary, Porsche debuted the 911 Speedster Concept with an open top, a unique back cover and a wind deflector engraved with the ’70 years of Porsche’ logo. It is expected to be available later in 2018.

Porsche also recently announced its Mission E model, a full electric car with acceleration of 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.

Park Place opened their 17th dealership yesterday at Park Place Porsche Grapevine.
