Clarice Tinsley’s cat, Serenity, had such a connection with her neighbors at Ursuline Academy that when the cat died, the school sent Tinsley and her husband, Stephen Giles, a framed photo of Serenity, pronouncing her “Ursuline’s Honorary Mascot.”

Clarice Tinsley has worked as an anchor for KDFW (CBS and FOX) for nearly 40 years. Serenity showed up at the family’s home on Strait Lane in May 2007. A tortoise-shell Manx with no tail (a trait of her breed), she had no chip and no collar.

Serenity died Dec. 2016 of chronic feline kidney disease.
