Rise No. 1

Conde Nast Traveler ranked the Top 20 restaurants in Dallas, and two in our area made the list.

Rise No. 1 received high praise from the publication, which called the French bistro “about as warm and cozy as they come — it feels like you are dining in your French grandmother’s countryside cabin, if you had a French grandmother with a countryside cabin.”

It’s not surprising that founder Hedda Gioia Dowd did indeed have European grandparents, although we’re not sure if they owned a cabin. She spent her childhood summers in France and has vowed to create the same ambience at Rise.

“In this restaurant, in nine years, I could count on one hand how many times someone pulled out a computer,” she said in 2017.

Conde Nast also highlighted Royal China. See the full list here.
