We thought the land at Forest/Nuestra would be a library. Some wanted a dog park until a library could be built. Other neighbors vehemently disagreed about building a dog park. Now the land will be sold with no conditions, according to Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates. Here’s what Gates told Melshire residents:

“Following our recent community meeting to discuss the future of the Forest/Nuestra Library land, I wanted to inform the Melshire neighborhood of next steps for the property. I appreciate those who were able to attend the meeting and provide helpful input.

The City is moving forward with the sale of the property with no conditions. This item has been placed on the executive session agenda for the November 5 Government Performance & Financial Management Committee meeting to determine the reserve amount. The reserve for the property will be the minimum price acceptable to the City under Dallas City Code Section 2-24.1. At the November 28 City Council meeting, staff will seek Council’s approval to declare the property as Surplus, as well as authorization for sale by Public Auction. The auction date will be scheduled in January 2019.
