BE AN ANGEL

Give presents, clothing and necessities through the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Choose an Angel by December 7 and drop off your gift by Dec. 9, and the Salvation Army will deliver it in time for Christmas. Created in 1979, the Angel Tree is one of the Salvation Army’s most important holiday efforts.

THE ORVILLE ROGERS STORY

Check out the screening of “Flying High for the Glory of God – The Orville Rogers.” The documentary tells the inspiring story of centenarian Orville Rogers, a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict, and a commercial pilot for Braniff Airway for more than 30 years. Rogers, a longtime Dallas resident, took up running at age 50 and holds more than a dozen official world records for track and field including all the USATF records for the 95-99 age group. Rogers celebrates his 101st birthday on Nov. 28. The screening is free with museum admission.

INTRIGUING MEMOIR

Kurt Eichenwald, author of “A Mind Unraveled: a Memoir,” speaks about his ongoing struggle with epilepsy and his torturous decision to keep his condition a secret to avoid discrimination.
