Glenn-James-2.jpgSeven-foot-tall Dallas Mavericks forward Dick Nowitzki didn’t play last week against the Warriors. (Go Mavs!) But tonight at the Mavs’ halftime show Mayor Mike Rawlings will present Nowitzki with a key to the city. He is only the third person to receive a key to the city from Mayor Rawlings. Nowitzki, who has a pretty fine house in Preston Hollow, has played 20 seasons with the Mavericks. Remember the documentary about him?

SportsDay, the authority on local sports, reported the 10 things to know about Nowitzki. Among them:

  • Nowitzki visits Children’s Medical Center every year around Christmas.
  • He loves David Hasselhoff (which German doesn’t?).
  • He loves being a father. In a detailed piece by SportsDay’s Brad Townsend, Nowitzki talked about being “Pappa” and the joy his children bring when he comes home “It’s an amazing feeling,” Nowitzki told Townsend. “You can’t replace that with anything.”
