NorthPark and Dolce Gabbana: when the holidays meet an Instagram melt-down

NorthPark Center announced Dolce & Gabbana is coming to the complex on Instagram and people freaked, according to The Dallas Morning News. Some are excited about the new store, but more commented about the brand’s marketing campaigns, body shaming and stereotypical treatment of Chinese people. After all of the feedback, NorthPark updated its Instagram statement Wednesday, saying: “While NorthPark Center is first and foremost a shopping center, we aim to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors. Our core values as a company are separate and not based in those of our tenants. We hear your feedback and look to Dolce & Gabbana to address the concerns surrounding their brand.” Long-time Dallas Morning News business writer Maria Halkias followed up with an interesting article about lessons learned from the dust-up.
