Jenna Bush Hager, alumna of Preston Hollow Elementary and The Hockaday schools, was officially named the new co-host of Hoda Kotb in the fourth hour of the “TODAY” show.

Hager is the younger twin daughter of the 43rd President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, who live in Preston Hollow, and granddaughter of the late 41st President George H. W. Bush. She will replace Kathie Lee Gifford, who announced her retirement late last year. Gifford will officially retire April 7.

Gifford and Kotb made the announcement on air Tuesday with a grand entrance by Hager.

“It feels humbling and I can’t believe it,” Hager said on Tuesday morning’s show.

She continued: “My dad just wrote me three words, which made me weep. He said, ‘Very Proud Dad.’ Which I’m like, what is there to be proud about? I’m just drinking wine in the morning.”

Kotb and Gifford are known for drinking wine and engaging in lively discussions during their hour of the show.

Hager has worked for the “TODAY” show since 2009, reporting on inspirational people and interviewing big names including former first lady Michelle Obama. She has alternatively filled in for Gifford and Kotb on the show’s fourth hour in the past.
