The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas announced Monday that Mariam Shpeen Feist will become the organization’s next president and CEO effective Aug. 1.

Feist, a mother of two, has been involved with the Jewish Federation since 2012 when she became its chief development officer. In 2014, she added the role of senior vice president to her duties. She is the second woman ever to hold the title of president and CEO of the federation.

“Our community is so fortunate to have Mariam as our federation’s next president and CEO,” said Mark Kreditor, the federation’s current board chair. “Mariam’s relationship and connection to this community the past seven years is very deep and she will help elevate our federation to its next level of success.”

Feist has more than 33 years of experience in the fundraising field, beginning her career at the UJA-Federation of Greater New York in its women’s division. She later joined the staff of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and served a 13-year tenure as its women’s division director, campaign director and assistant executive vice president.

“My goal was to find the best person available for the position because Dallas is a great place to live with a strong federation serving Jews in need locally, (in) Israel, and throughout the world as it has for 107 years,” said A.J. Rosmarin, incoming board chair. “We are on a great trajectory, and I’m confident Mariam is the right person.”
