The Hockaday “Hockabots” will face off against 110 teams this week in a world LEGO robot competition.

Two sixth graders and three eighth graders from the private school in Preston Hollow make up the champion team. They made their robotics debut at the 10th annual North Texas FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship Competition in February, where they took first place. That win qualified them to enter the FIRST Championship taking place in Houston.

FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” and is an organization that works to motivate students to understand and use science and technology.

The group of girls was featured on Channel 5’s #SomethingGood segment.
