Jack Lynch may be the next Jesuit Dallas alum to join the list of Major League Baseball players the school has produced. For now, he’s a player to watch in the high school postseason.

The 5-foot-10-inch senior, who recently committed to Xavier University in Ohio, has emerged this season as one of the area’s best southpaws. Lynch holds an arsenal of sneaky fastballs and off-speed pitched which has propelled him to a 9-2 record with a 3.38 earned-run average.

“You want to be the No. 1 pitcher,” Lynch told Preston Hollow People. “I’ve been the most consistent that I’ve ever been in my baseball career. I think that’s why I’ve kind of taken over that role.”

Lynch led the team to wins over Lovejoy, Plano West and state-ranked Propser while recording 13 strikeouts in each game.

Jesuit coach Brian Jones called Lynch the “backbone” of the team.

Jesuit beat out Sachse 2-1 in the bi-district round of the 6A Region 2 playoffs. The Rangers will now take on Rockwall in a best-of-three series beginning with game 1 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Dallas all-boys school has produced several baseball standouts over the years including southpaw Kyle Muller, who plays for the Atlante Braves organization; Josh Bell, who plays first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates; and pitchers Jacob Palisch and Tyler Murrah, who are both currently playing collegiate ball at Stanford and Pepperdine, respectively.
