Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas announced four members to its Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2019. Here are details from the school.

Kenny Cooper, Class of 2003, Soccer

A star forward for the Jesuit Dallas soccer program, Cooper has had the most impressive pro career of any soccer alumnus in school history, according to the Jesuit sports department.

His career highlights:

  • He was a 2003 McDonald’s All-American and Dallas Morning News Player of the Year.
  • Cooper was signed to Manchester United Soccer Club directly out of high school, beginning a 15-year pro career that included clubs in Portugal, Germany, England, the United States and Canada.
  • From 2006-09, Cooper scored 40 goals for FC Dallas. Leading the league with four game-winning goals during the 2008 season, Cooper was named to the MLS all-star team and was later named to the MLS Best XI and as the MLS Comeback Player of the Year.
  • During the 2008 season, he earned his first World Cup Qualifying start and his first World Cup qualifying-round goal against Guatemala. In 2009, Cooper scored the game-winning goal for the United States in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup and then added another goal in the semifinals five days later.
  • In 2014, Cooper helped the Seattle Sounders in capturing the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Scoring six goals in four games, he was named the U.S. Open Cup Player of the Tournament.

Matt Delzell, Class of 1999, Basketball  

A two-time state champion point guard for Jesuit, Matt Delzell played for the University of San Diego basketball program.

Career highlights:

  • After starting as a walk-on for the Toreros in 1999, Delzell started 25 games as a freshman.
  • He was the second player named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team four straight years, and he was selected as the Student Athlete of the Year in the WCC as a senior.
  • In 2003, he led USD to its first WCC Championship. Delzell scored a game-high 20 points in the WCC semifinal and later was named to the WCC All-Tournament team after helping USD make it to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 16 years.
  • Delzell was captain of the Toreros as a senior and selected co-MVP by coaches and teammates following the season.

Jeff Fellows, Class of 1997, Lacrosse

A two-time all-district and all-state selection, Fellows was the first star in Jesuit’s lacrosse history. As a senior, he was named captain of the elite travel squad, Team Texas, and he became the first alumnus to be named U.S. Lacrosse All-American.

Career highlights:

  • Fellows played at the Naval Academy Prep School. following graduation from Jesuit. Scoring a hat trick in his first game, he scored four goals, including the game-winner in the Little Army-Navy game.
  • Anchoring midfield, he was a four-year starter for the Midshipmen. During his senior year, he received the Lt. j.g. Frank McKeone Award for spirit, sportsmanship and as the team’s unsung hero.
  • After 15 years of active duty piloting F/A-18EF Super Hornets and the F-35C Lightning II Strike Fighter, Fellows was selected to command the Navy’s first F-35C Strike Fighter squadron in 2017. In 2018, he started his command tour with VFA 147 Argonauts.

Matthew Thompson, Class of 2009, Swimming

A six-time UIL state champion, seven-time junior national champion, and 14-time NISCA/Speedo All-American, Thompson finished his high school swimming career by collecting three top-10 finishes at the 2009 U.S. World Championships.

  • During high school, he held Jesuit records in five individual events and two relays.
  • He was named the top swimmer in Texas two times and was a four-time regional swimmer of the year. Thompson set a national record in the 200 IM during his senior season.
  • Thompson earned a scholarship to Stanford University, where he was a five-time NCAA All-American, PAC-12 champion and a four-time Academic All-Pac 12 selection. A two-time semifinalist in the 200 back at the U.S. Olympic Trials, Thompson earned a Bronze medal at the 2011 U.S. National Championships.
  • He was a two-time champion at the 2018 Senior Metropolitan Short Course Winter Championship.
