What she’s up to now:

Who knew Hockaday alumna Dixie Carter-Salinas would grow up to be a professional wrestling promoter? Carter is the former chairman, president and chief strategy officer of Impact Wrestling. A 1982 graduate of Hockaday, she graduated from the University of Mississippi. Carter is married to Serg Salinas, a music producer with whom she has two children.

Five things to know:

1.“I grew up in Dallas, and the Von Erichs were huge,” she told bleacherreport.com. “My brother and I would watch Saturday morning wrestling together. I loved Hulk Hogan. He’s just this larger-than-life character.”

2. Her tenure at TNA/Impact Wrestling is not without controversy. Carter came to TNA in 2002 to provide marketing and advertising help but ended up being the boss of the second largest wrestling promotion in the U.S. for more than a decade, according to Impact Asylum. “What will history truly have to say about the woman who at several points saved TNA from ruin and at several points almost destroyed it as well,” wrote Jason Blade in 2017’s Impact Asylum.

3. Oddly, she worked with Smashing Pumpkins musician Billy Corgan, who took over the presidency of the company after her. Corgan ended up suing the company and Carter, according to prowrestlingsheet.com.

4. Carter is worth $5 million, according to celebrityworth.com.

5. Her Twitter bio: “Mom to two amazing kids. Wife to an incredible man. A proud Ole Miss Rebel. Blessed with family, friends…. And an awesome career.”
