Dallas Morning News columnist Sharon Grigsby writes that many were dismayed by the lenient plea deal — probation — for a grown man who sneaked into Hillcrest High School, pretended to be one of its students and preyed upon a 14-year-old girl. But Grigsby reports that the mother of the young female whom Sidney Gilstrap-Portley took advantage of is satisfied with the punishment. “There’s nothing that we need to say to him,” said the mother, a former DISD employee, noting that her daughter has changed schools. “He’s going to have a lot of time to feel deeply his mistakes.”
