Bus loads of neighbors wearing white road-tripped to City Hall Sept. 11 to oppose the zoning plan for Planned Development District 15, but the Dallas City Council unanimously approved the plan to allow high-rise residences anyway. This means towers as high as 22 stories can be built along Northwest Highway across from Preston Center Plaza. The zoning issue came about when Preston Place, a three-story condominium, was destroyed by fire in March 2017. Some neighbors created C.A.R.D. (Citizens Advocate for Responsible Development) to oppose the zoning. One C.A.R.D member, attorney Steve Dawson, told the Dallas Morning News said that some residents may consider legal action.
