Dallas City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates met with the Office of Emergency Management this morning. Traffic is unbearable. “Restoring access to major roadways is our number one priority,” she said.

Officers will be taking pictures on their body cam of IDs or license plates of all people driving through affected areas to ensure residents are safe.

Oncor predicts that all areas will have power restored this evening.

Atmos Energy

Atmos will perform a helicopter survey for leaks today. Residents may see them fly over if they live in the impacted area.

Bulk Trash Suspended

The City will be suspending bulk trash effective the end of this week. If you are Week four or beyond, do not set out your bulk trash. These items will not be collected. All City resources will be deployed to aide in more expeditious clean up

Central Market Mobile Kitchen

The Central Market/HEB Mobile Kitchen will be at the Preston Royal Shopping Center parking lot at the corner of Preston and Royal. Meals will be available to first responders, construction workers, and neighbors affected by the storm. Meals will be served Thursday Oct. 24 – Sunday Oct. 26

Breakfast from 8am to 10am.

Lunch noon – 2pm.

Dinner 4-6pm.

They are observing curfew beginning at 7pm.

Gateway Church Relief Center

Gateway Church is turning its Dallas Campus into a crisis relief center to assist those affected by tornados. The church is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse, a global crisis relief organization, to mobilize volunteers to tarp damaged roofs in affected areas and facilitate weeks-long clean-up efforts. In partnership with Mercy Chefs, Gateway is serving free lunch and dinner to all first responders and volunteers as well as homeowners who have been displaced due to tornado damage. Gateway is also working with Minuteman Disaster Response and The Goodness Project to assess and respond to are

 

The Dallas Education Foundation (DEF) is the non-profit, development partner of the Dallas Independent School District and has set up a “Dallas ISD Tornado Disaster Relief Fund” for monetary donations, while Dallas ISD Volunteer and Partnership Services (VPS) is coordinating contributions of gift cards, school supplies, volunteer time, etc.

Also, Dallas ISD is currently accepting gift cards, preferably in $25–$30 increments. Mail the gift card to 9400 N. Central Expressway, Box 21, Dallas, TX 75231. For questions about gift card donations, please call (972) 925-5440. We are currently identifying families most in need of donations.

The district is also accepting small boxes of new school supplies, which can be dropped off at the three following locations Monday–Friday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.:
