FEMA Disaster Declaration

FEMA has requested an additional 30 days to review tornado data, so we may not know if we will have a presidential disaster declaration until the end of the year, City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates reports. A presidential disaster declaration can also help residents with their federal taxes.

Tornado Zone Clean Up
Our contract crews have taken over cleaning up the tornado zone. FEMA has very specific requirements regarding how the debris must be picked up to get reimbursed. “Dirty” debris such as building materials are picked up separately from “clean” debris like trees.
Cleaning Crew Map
The map continues to be updated as crews make progress. Please note that to comply with FEMA regulations, crews will pick up building debris and trees/foliage on different trips.
