When the tornado hit Preston Hollow hit Oct. 20, our staff went into full coverage mode. We:
- Met Sara Miranda, whose home was totaled, but spent the next morning thankful to be alive.
- Tracked businesses that were destroyed then reopened in the face of devastation: North Haven Gardens, Interabang Books, Toy Maven, Preston Oaks Shopping Center, KNON and more.
- Reveled in DISD’s recovery efforts, including this profile of Walnut Hill Elementary Principal Phillip Potter, who led his students to a new school within 36 hours.
- Monitored City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gate’s updates on FEMA, appraisals and storm debris collection.
- Reported on neighborhood looting.
- Celebrated neighbors who donated money to help with the recovery.
- Kept you informed on those who are helping to replace lost trees.
