Thirteen years ago Margie Wright, executive director of the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas and board member of MHA-Dallas, asked Yvonne Crum, who was working on an event for Mental Health America Dallas to help raise at least $25,000 by organizing an event around the issue of suicide. Crum, a Preston Hollow neighbor, realize the best way to involve the community in raising awareness and funds was to select a dozen women and men annually to serve as fundraising ambassadors. These ambassadors, or Fashion Stars, promote table sales and raffle tickets for the annual Fashion Stars for a Cause event, which Crum calls “a celebration of fashion and compassion.” More than $2.6 million has been raised for the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas. The black tie event is Friday, March 27, 6:30 p.m. at the Dallas Country Club. For information and table requests, contact: Crum, chair and founder of Fashion Stars for a Cause at email@example.com or visit here.
