Help support a good cause and hear an intriguing tale of growing up in a survivalist Mormon family

Temple Emanu-El is hosting author Tara Westover Tuesday, Jan. 28. Her memoir, which is about growing up in a survivalist Mormon family and then going to college, was featured on Bill Gates’ book blog. Her appearance will help raise money for the North Texas non-profit Educational First Steps. Westover’s book is “Educated: A Memoir.” The event is moderated by Krys Boyd, radio host of “Think” on KERA.

Educational First Steps’ was founded by Dave Munson, Sr., Joyce Wright, and former Dallas ISD superintendent Linus Wright 30 years ago. The goal is to transform daycare centers in impoverished communities.
