After the tornado, Dallas ISD trustees approved nearly $132 million in construction projects for two of the sites during its board meeting Thursday night, according to the Dallas Morning News.
More than $82 million of that total will go to renovating Thomas Jefferson High School. About $49.8 million will create a new pre-K through 8th grade campus on the site of Cary Middle School, which was totaled by the storms.
Some alum wanted to rebuild TJ instead of renovate it. The Dallas Morning News editorial board weighed in, stating this was a missed opportunity for DISD.
District officials want to reopen the schools by the start of the 2022-23 school year. We’re still not sure what’s happening with Walnut Hill Elementary.
