After the Oct. 20 tornado, 7-year-old Brinley Smith was so moved about the destruction of trees that she worked with her parents, Brian and Crystal Smith, to launch Kids Luv Trees. Their goal is to raise money to plant 500 trees in North Texas. “It made me feel sad, and I wanted to do something about it,” Brinley said. We profiled the second grader at Parish Episcopal School in our February issue. Dad Brian reports that the organization has already raised almost $9,000. The family, including son, Preston, has lived in Preston Hollow for five and a half years. Brinley drew the concept for a Kids Luv Trees logo, which was given to designers for further development. The illustration depicts a tree surrounded by children from different countries. For more information, visit KidsLuvTrees.org or email info@KidsLuvTrees.org.
