Bluffview neighbor Maureen Kelly Cooper is a co-chair for the Texas Emerald Ball.

The Ireland Funds named Gary Kelly, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Southwest Airlines, as the recipient of its 2020 Philanthropic Leadership Award. Enda Kenny, former prime minister of Ireland, will receive the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Kelly and Kenny get their awards Saturday, March 7, at the Texas Emerald Ball, which will be held at The Adolphus Hotel at 6:30 p.m.

This event raises money for charities in Ireland and around the world. In addition, at Kelly’s request, a portion of the funds will benefit Emily’s Place, which works to break the cycle of violence faced by many women and their children.

Maureen Kelly Cooper, an executive director for Cushman & Wakefield who lives in Bluffview, and Kathryn Cassidy, president and COO of Altair Global, are co-chairs for the Texas Emerald Ball.  Entertainment includes Ronan Tynan, an Irish tenor, and the Manhattan Dance Band.
