After the Oct. 20 tornado, Parish Episcopal School second-grader Brinley Smith launched Kids Luv Trees with the help of her parents, Brian and Crystal Smith, to raise money to replant trees in neighborhoods affected by the storm. Brinley envisioned kid-inspired fundraising events. On Sunday, Feb. 23, she and friends held a hot cocoa stand. The nonprofit has raised $13,000 to date. That equates to planting 50 trees, Brian says. The organization’s goal is to fund 500 trees. We profiled Brinley and Kids Luv Trees (check out the link here). The kids were also featured on local Fox 4 News Dallas.
