Love trees? The Texas Trees Foundation has a photo contest. Submit your images between now and April 3. “We are looking for inspiring images of trees taken inside the city limits of Dallas. These photographs should represent the spirit of Trees Among Us Photo Contest: portraying the connection between trees and people. These images may show a single tree or a variety of trees, but should highlight trees primarily in urban settings, not in forest environments. While humans do not necessarily have to be included in the photograph, it should highlight how trees greatly improve the lives of humans. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. A photographer is permitted to upload a maximum of two photos total.” Here are details about how to enter. There are categories for professionals, amateurs and youth.
This is particularly relevant after the Oct. 20 tornado when so many neighbors have been inspired to replant trees after the storm destroyed so much. Brant Landry launched a tree-buying program so that neighbors could come together to replace trees that they lost in a cost-effective way (read his story here).
