If you’re lucky, you get to attend the Eagles concert this weekend at American Airlines Center and hear “Hotel California.” But did you know Don Henley lives in Preston Hollow, not Cali? He’s very private, but has been generous when it comes to playing at school auctions, including the Shelton School. After band member Glenn Frey’s death, Henley has assembled Vince Gill, Frey’s 26-year-old son, Deacon, an orchestra and a choir. Thor Christensen, former Dallas Morning News music critic, reported that “Hotel California” was the beginning of the end for the band. “Tensions flared during the protracted recording sessions, partly because Henley had emerged as the band’s main vocalist and sang lead on five of the album’s songs while Frey sang lead on just one. ‘He didn’t really get a chance to express himself artistically and creatively. After a while, that started to bother him,’ Henley told the Dallas Morning News in 1990. ‘He felt he needed another creative outlet in order to sing his stuff.'”

Henley’s 15,000-square-foot house in Preston Hollow, which was built in 1996, features six bedrooms, six fireplaces and three wet bars.

The Eagles perform at 8 p.m. on Feb. 29, March 1 and March 17 at American Airlines Center. www.ticketmaster.com
