Walnut Hill Elementary parents, staff and community leaders met at Dallas ISD headquarters to provide feedback on the plans for the new school that will replace the one destroyed by the Oct. 20 tornado, according to NBC 5.  DISD plans to combine Walnut Hill Elementary and Cary Middle School, which were both damaged by the tornado, onto one campus. Those at the meeting participated in a “design charrette.” They placed stickers on photos to indicate their preferences. The architect is Sangeetha Karthik. Walnut Hill Elementary Principal Phillip Potter said it was an opportunity to define what’s unique about the school’s programming and build on that. DISD plans to use funds from tornado relief, donations and insurance to pay for the new school. The goal is to open by August 2022.
