Ducklings were born in Paul Schiefer’s backyard and now the commercial photographer welcomes kids to come see them before they fly away. Schiefer, who has lived in Preston Hollow since 2013, says he’s been watching the mom sit on the nest since March 13. “Many mornings I saw her fly into the pool with the mallard,” he says. “He was quickly gone when he saw me or my Italian Greyhound. It has been a chore to keep him away from the nest.” The ducklings were born on Tuesday, April 14. So far, they swim in the pool, following Mom. Schiefer built a ramp in the pool so they can get out. Here’s how you can visit the ducklings: email Schiefer at pschiefer@gmail.com or text him at 469-877-3343. Schedule a time to visit and he will open the gate so you can have a private viewing — safely during this time of social distancing. Act quickly before the ducks wing it — maybe in a week.
