Neighbors are organizing and stacking trash on the curb

While we’re all sheltering at home during this coronavirus pandemic, at least we’ve tried to be productive. We’ve cleaned out closets. We’ve turned the bedrooms of nest-flown kids into Zoom-equipped home offices. We’ve gotten into the yard to trim trees and pull up sad shrubbery.

Now, the City of Dallas has a message for us all. Our trash is overwhelming.

“Brush and bulk trash collections are delayed in many areas of Dallas due to higher than usual set out volumes,” shared Dallas Sanitation’s Danielle McClelland on Nextdoor.com. “Sanitation asks for the public’s patience as we work to keep up with the current increase in volumes. Residents should continue to follow the normal set out schedule for their areas at this time.”

Dallas Code Compliance will temporarily suspend the issuance of bulk trash violations in affected areas, McClelland wrote.

You may find your collection schedule on the City’s sanitation page here.
