The Jewish Community Center of Dallas will host author Robert Kolker tonight at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom as part of its “Live in Your Living Room” series. In the online event, Kolker will talk about his latest book, Hidden Valley Road, a best-seller and pick for Oprah’s Book Club.

The book follows the Galvin family, a midcentury American family with 12 children. Half of the family’s children have schizophrenia, and the kids become part of a scientific quest to understand the illness. The Galvins were one of the first families to be followed and studied by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Robert Kolker is the New York Times best-selling author of Lost Girls, which was named one of the New York Times’ 100 Notable Books and Publisher’s Weekly’s Top Ten Books of 2013. Kolker’s work as a journalist has featured in New York Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, The New York Times Magazine, Wired, GQ, Oprah, and Men’s Journal.
