Update: Hours after the Galleria shooting took place Tuesday evening, Dallas Police confirmed that two males, in their teens or early 20s, started an altercation that resulted in one shooting the other in the food court right before 6:45 p.m.

The two men seemed to know each other, police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez told the Dallas Morning News. The incident was not an active-shooter circumstance, she said. No one else was injured.

The shooter fled the scene and was still at large Tuesday evening, Gutierrez said. The mall went into temporary lockdown while police tried to locate the gunman, and officers helped evacuate frazzled shoppers.

Hannah DeClerk told the publication that she was shopping in Bath & Body Works on the second floor and heard around five or six gunshots fired near Nordstrom. She left the store through a back stairwell. “You could smell the gunpowder,” she recalled as she heard people screaming.
