The Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) announced last week that all of its private schools must wait until Sept. 8 to start sports competition. All sports must adhere to this order due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This announcement came at the same time that Dallas County ordered that public and private schools cannot start in-person learning until Sept. 8.

The SPC has 18 member schools and 4 of the 5 Dallas County members are Preston Hollow Schools: Episcopal School of Dallas, St. Mark’s, Hockaday and Greenhill.

The SPC’s statement said that it will not control how schools hold training sessions or practices.

“As a conference committed to the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and communities, the SPC continues to access and review the appropriate public health and safety information from medical experts,” said the statement from SPC commissioner Bob Windham and Chris Gunnin, chair of the SPC board of directors.
