After almost six months of closure due to COVID-19, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science will reopen this weekend with limited hours and capacity. Following the weekend of Sept. 12-13, the museum will host visitors on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Perot will adopt pandemic regulations that 50 other Dallas arts and culture organizations established in July. All guests 3 years of age and above must wear a face covering, guests must stay six feet apart and occupancy will be limited to 25%, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The Moody Family Children’s Museum, The Hoglund Foundation Theater and a few other activities will remain closed in the first phase of opening.

Since March, the museum has suffered financially from the pandemic, having to lay off 168 workers. The physical structure of the building also suffered damage during the protests sparked by George Floyd’s killing.

The Perot recommends buying tickets in advance at perotmuseum.org. A very limited amount of tickets will be available for purchase on site.

Sept. 12 hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 13 hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. After this weekend, the hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
