This time of the year is one to reflect on the things we are thankful for – a home, a family, a job, and many other things.
Personally, I am thankful for my family, for the community that has allowed me to serve the students and families in District 2 over the past four years, and for the many educators who commit themselves to providing a quality education and nurturing environment to all students in Dallas ISD.
Dallas ISD is grateful for the support of parents and community members!

In other news…

• I’m very proud that we could recognize the heroism of First Sergeant William Henderson and Officer Sergio Pacheco. These courageous men were called to the scene of an escalating dispute in the parking lot at North Dallas High School. They quickly placed the campus on lockdown, and their intervention and courageous actions saved the lives of innocent civilians.

•  Central Market gave $1 million to the Dallas Education Foundation to benefit Dallas ISD schools.
We are so grateful for the incredible generosity of our friends at Central Market and for their longstanding commitment to supporting the students, staff, and families of Dallas ISD.

• Congratulations to Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, who was named the 2020 Urban Educator of the Year during the 64th Annual Council of the Great City Schools Fall Conference held virtually this year.
