Former First Lady and Preston Hollow neighbor Laura Bush released a video yesterday encouraging individuals to donate to the Salvation Army’s Rescue Christmas Campaign. She posted the video on her social media accounts.

In the video, the former First Lady mentions the impacts of COVID-19. She specifically highlights that the Salvation Army is expecting an increase in need, saying that 155% more individuals than last year will need assistance.

“As First Lady of the United States, I saw people in challenging circumstances all over our country, including in my home state of Texas”, Bush says in the video. “And it’s clear, this year, that the need of Americans is great. The pandemic of COVID-19 and its impact will be felt during the holiday season.”

Bush joins a slew other celebrities and figures supporting the campaign, including Karamo Brown from “Queer Eye,” “Fuller House” star Candace Cameron Bure and producer DJ Khaled.
